Corporate Social Responsibility
J.P. Morgan's global corporate responsibility program operates out of the firm's headquarters in New York. In 2010, JPMorgan Chase and its Foundation gave more than $150 million through grants and sponsorships to thousands of not-for-profit organizations globally. J.P. Morgan's corporate responsibility programs in China focus on: education, community development, arts and culture and disaster relief.
Education
J.P. Morgan has been supporting a number of leading not-forprofit organizations on an array of innovative programs to foster quality education for underprivileged children. In partnership with Narada Foundation and Compassion for Migrant Children, we offer education enrichment program for rural migrant children in the city. In addition, the foundation has a long-term partnership with Half the Sky (HTS) in support of its innovative training programs to upgrade China's social welfare system, which will benefit hundreds of Chinese orphans.
Community Development
J.P. Morgan has been focusing on social programs that help advance the economic conditions of the rural migrant youth. In partnership with the Beijing Vocational School for Rural Women and the Bainian Vocational School, J.P. Morgan helped improve the job prospects for the migrant youth living in Beijing by offering them practical skills training.
Arts and Culture
J.P. Morgan regards supporting the development of arts and culture as an important mission to fulfill its corporate responsibility. In China, we support the development of contemporary art. In 2010, J.P. Morgan sponsored Today's Documents Exhibition, an influential contemporary art event in China hosted by Today Art Museum. Also in partnership with Today Art Museum, J.P. Morgan has been providing innovative art education for rural migrant children in Beijing. The firm has also been active in promoting local art and culture. In 2011, in celebration of the firm's 90 years of history in China, J.P. Morgan presented an unprecedented Peking Opera concert featuring 16 of China’s leading Peking Opera masters and the National Symphony Orchestra at the National Center for Performing Arts in celebration of the firm's 90 years of history in China.
Disaster Relief
Following the massive earthquake struck Sichuan province on May 12, 2008, J.P. Morgan immediately responded with the delivery of eighteen freight containers of drinking water and food by J.P. Morgan employees to the quake-hit regions within the first week of the tragedy. When the Qinghai Yushu earthquake occurred in 2010, J.P. Morgan again took quick action. In partnership with China Charity Aid Foundation for Children, the firm brought 23 orphans from their damaged homes to Beijing for recovery and psychological rehabilitation.
